Dumb, Stupid, Crazy (2012)
is a body of work that challenges the imperialistic nature of Capitalism in the United States government and presents an antithesis of democracy. Through video installation and absurd physical performances, I investigate our government's totalitarian behavior and seek to dismantle American exceptionalism. Whether by gagging myself with fortune cookies or blowing balloons up in my face, my work critiques the government's manipulative control of public opinion. Using humor and repetition, the strenuous performances compare survival in today's Capitalist-controlled society to a never-ending uphill battle, similar to Albert Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus.
